Message from the Executive Director:

On Wednesday Feb 11th Senate Bill 6 (SB 6), which would repeal daylight savings time (DST) in Alaska, moved from the State Affairs committee and onto the Finance committee.  The bill, sponsored by Senator Anna MacKinnon, would allow Alaska to stay on standard time throughout the year. A similar bill was introduced In 2009 , House Bill 19 (HB 19), which passed the House, but not the Senate.

Please go to our “Advocacy web page” where you can access the information concerning SB 6. More importantly we ask that you take a moment and answer the “Chamber Quick Poll” to give us your feedback on the bill; your opinion is important.

In addition, Sen. MacKinnon created an online survey to learn what Alaskans think about repealing DST.  I would encourage all chamber members to take the time to respond directly to the Senator in addition to our quick poll.
